Minerva Punjab FC is now known as the Punjab Football Club. It is based in Mohali, Punjab and was established in the year 2013. The club plays in the I-league championship under the license of the All India Football Federation. The management of the club is run in partnership by Ranjit Bajaj, the founder and director of Minerva Punjab Football Club and Mohali based firm Round Glass sports. The club was renamed as the Punjab Football club in the year 2019-2020 and the 2019 I-league will be their first tournament after the changes that were made.

The Minerva Club was established in the year 2005. It was known as the Minerva Academy and training of Cricket, as well as football, was given over here. The Minerva Punjab Football Club was established in the year 2013 as six a side team to play in local tournaments and it helped the local players of Chandigarh a lot.
The club became so famous that in 2015 after winning a series of local tournaments they won the Chandigarh state League title and went ahead to participate in the I-league 2nd division. On 30th October 2019, the team was given the name of Punjab Football Club and it was announced that all the teams belonging to the club and the senior teams will be given the same name.
The Minerva Punjab Football Club Wins
From the year 2015, the team has won many National level matches and tournaments. Let us have a look at it in detail.
In the 2015-2016 I-league 2nd division, Minerva Punjab was in Group B and topped the group in the league matches. They played 8 matches, won 6, lost 1 and 1 was a draw. They advanced to the final round of the match. But, in the finals, they were defeated by Dempo FC. Kareem Omolajo was one of the top 10 goal scorers of the I-league 2nd division tournament.
The 2016-2017 I-league was the 10th season of the Hero I-league. Some clubs like Salgaocar FC, Dempo FC, and Sporting Goa withdrew from the I-league as a result of which, the Aizawl team was reinstated and other teams like Minerva Punjab, Churchill Brothers, and Chennai City were given direct entry into the I-league. In this season Minerva Punjab played 18 matches and won only 2 matches. Hence, they were not able to top the group and were in the 9th position.
In the 2017-2018 season of I-league Minerva Punjab were the winners of the tournament. They played 18 matches from that won 11, lost 5 matches, and 2 matches were a draw.
The team participated in the 2018-2019 I-league and were in the 9th position. The team played 20 matches, won 4, 6 matches were a draw, and lost 10 matches.
After winning the 2017-2018 I-league tournament they qualified directly for the 2019 AFC Champions League Preliminary round 2. This match was played in 2019 in February. In this round, they were defeated by the Saipa Football Club of Iran by 4-0.
