How Hyderabad FC was Formed?
FC Pune City had to defunct their operations after the 2018-19 season due to financial and technical troubles. So for the sixth season of the Indian Super League, FC Pune City was replaced by Hyderabad FC. The Pune franchise was taken over by Varun Tripuraneni, the former CEO of Kerala Blasters, and by Vijay Madduri, a Hyderabad based entrepreneur.
When they took over the franchise the owners decided to move the Pune franchise to their home city Hyderabad, and thus on 27th August 2019, a club from Hyderabad named Hyderabad FC was officially announced. Later on, it was announced that actor and film producer Rana Daggubati became the joint co-owner for the Hyderabad franchise.
2019-20 Debut Season
When the team was officially announced for the sixth season, Hyderabad retained the defunct FC Pune City head coach Phil Brown as their head coach, and also retained most of the players from the Pune franchise into the team.
The players that were retained from FC Pune City were Kamaljit Singh (GK), Anuj Kumar (GK), Gurtej Singh (DF), Sahil Panwar (DF), Keenan Almeida (DF), Mohammad Yasir (MF), Adil Khan (MF), Sahil Tavora (MF), Marko Stankovic (MF), Rohit Kumar (MF), Shankar Sampingiraj (MF), Abhishek Halder (MF), and Robin Singh (FW).
Hyderabad FC faced two defeats in a row where they played their debut match on 25th October 2019 against ATK and Jamshedpur FC where they lost 5-0 and 3-1 respectively. But in the third match, HFC registered its first win of the season where they won 2-1 against Kerala Blasters.
The debut season for Hyderabad FC is not going as they expected as they have managed only 1 win out of the 7 games played. Still, the team has a positive attitude and believes that they will make a statement for themselves in the remaining matches of ISL 2019-20 season.
